Over feeding?!

So my little man will be 1 month tomorrow. I have been giving him breast milk Day time and formula at night (he doesn’t latch). 
I have been giving 2.5-3 oz every 2 hours since that is when he wakes up. I’m trying to push it to every 2.5, he’s so gassy and colic that he screams.   
I’ve seen a lot of research say babies will stop eating when they are full and that at this age, it’s hard to over feed your baby.
Is this true? Would I be able to go up to 3.5 oz? Is that too much? Any advice would be helpful 💕

If your child is hungry, you feed them. It's a complicated concept. And yes, if your child isn't hungry, they're not going to eat. Just like me and you. I assume you don't eat when you're full, right? If he's not spitting it up, it's more than okay to allow him to eat as much or as little as he wants. Our daughter was exclusively formula fed since birth and I never put a cap on how much she was consuming. By 1 month, she was having 3-4 ounces every 2-3 hours. She's always been healthy and always at a normal weight. I was never concerned and neither was her pediatrician.

Not true. Babies—especially bottle fed babies—can absolutely overeat. My son is exclusively breast fed and still over eats. Docs said based on spitting up after feds as well as his excessive weight gain. He’s only 3 months and has doubled his birth weight!

If he's gassy and colicy, he might have issues with the formula. We switched to lactose free. Also, gas drops work wonders!

I think it’s a bit different if you’re also giving them formula as that takes a bit more work to ensure they’re getting the right amount. Ask your health visitor or doctor these questions to get a correct answer :) x

My son was 6 lbs 2 oz but he was taken right down to sick kids hospital in Toronto when he was born and had surgery a day and half old and he was getting his food thou a feeding tube and he started taking the bottle and it was 30 ml for a bit then he got more and more and when he came home he was taken 3 oz and he wanted more and then 4 oz and we worked him up to 8 oz. if your son wants more food give him 4 oz and see how he is with it and move it up a oz at a time.

My son came home eating close to 4 ounces every 2 hours. He was a bigger baby so that may have something to do with it. Also that the NICU wouldn't let us breastfeed but I could pump. So they were giving him formula right off the bat. 
He's not over weight now. He's a very tall and fast growing 16 month old.
