Is this too high?

Question

We set the crib mattress to the highest setting for infants, it has 4 mattress levels. I'm worried that this is too high and needs to be dropped down but wanted some input from others.

Infants can’t roll over or sit up. That height is fine till they can roll then maybe one level down and then again once the baby can sit up or is trying to stand.

Just flip the metal part that holds the mattress so the bars are downward. I would lower it a bit. Even for an infant, that would make me nervous

I couldn’t help but notice we’re getting he same crib as you. I think you have one of the rails on wrong?

The rule of thumb I’ve seen is that once they start being more mobile by rolling or sitting you want to lower it so that the top of the rail (in this crib I would go by the lower part of the swoopy curve) is at their chest/armpit height or higher when standing. That way even if they haven’t actually pulled up yet they don’t do that in the crib and fall over (babies are too heavy).

For a newborn I guess it's fine, but when they start rolling and get onto their hands and knees I'd bring it down a level, then when pulling themselves up bring it down to the third and fourth when they're standing. That's what I done but once he got to the lowest he refused to be in his crib anymore 🙄
