What should I do?

So, there is this guy who has been kinda "crushing" on me since he saw me last summer, and it has been the same for ( I know this thanks to a mutual friend hehe) The problem is, we have never talked to each other,but I want to get to know him so bad! He asked to my friend if I could hang out with them one time, but I was busy and I didn't know he would be there too so I declined (🙃) I don't know when I will have the opportunity to meet him again, and whenever I think about texting him, I'm like "what am I going to say?" "What if he thinks I'm desperate? Or boring?" And stuff like that. Advice needed, thanks 💓
