Detergent?

FTM here, what laundry detergent do you use to wash cloth diapers? I've seen a lot of sent free hypoallergenic brands being recommended. Is anything else do able. I'm a smell freak and want things to smell good

I refuse to use harsh main stream detergent. The diapers are sitting on the most sensitive of babies body so I don’t want those harsh chemicals anywhere near my baby. I prefer to use a plant based detergent and they always come out perfectly clean. I switch it up every now and again. My favorites are biokleen, seventh generation and method.

Tide and gain are the most strong and efficient for cloth.

I use 7th generation or babyganics laundry detergent. I air dry them.

I haven’t done cloth diapers, but when it comes to baby laundry in general, I just use regular detergent and softener. If your child has issues, you can always change to something else then.

You want to use something that rinses 100% clean. Be careful with tide and some others recommended because you don’t want anything with additives that could be left behind on the diaper as it’ll have an effect on the absorbency. If you use something efficiently cleaning your diapers you shouldn’t need anything added to make them not smell like waste. I’d recommend “Allen’s Naturally Detergent” (comes in liquid and powder) if you’re not wanting to make a switch for all of your laundry. The same brand also makes a “Stink Out” product that has a naturally occurring citrus smell that’s safe for cloth diapers. Be very careful with what you use, it’s easy to be using something that can do more harm than good on cloth.
