Could it have been a miscarriage or not?

Found out valentines day i was pregnant. Great gift. But wednesday has light cramping. Went to the er and they said ultrasound looked great. Saturday early in the morning at 12am had some bleeding but no cramping. Bleeding got a little bit heavier but still no cramping. Had some clots.About 4 years ago exactly i also found out i was pregnant and a week later ended up in miscarriage but the cramps were very painful. That is why i am not sure if i had a miscarriage or not this time. For the last pregnancy i had no symptoms. With this one i had hip pain and heartburn. It had stopped but returned. Has this happened to anyone and turned out they were still pregnant?
