Anyone opt out of all genetic screenings?

Honestly I’m a FTM and first pregnancy so at that very first visit there was so much paperwork and not a lot of explanation so We kinda just signed it all. We did have the NT ultrasound which came back extremely low risk, they drew blood then and want to take blood again this week to compare. And now, my husband and I have really thought like we don’t reallly want the unnecessary worry about an increased risk result, due to false positive or whatever (I know they’re rare), and these tears are just screening tests, not diagnostic and we probably wouldn’t go through with diagnostic testing because of the risk, but just wondering if anyone out there opted out of these tests so you didn’t have extra worry of the outcome?

We chose to do the screenings because I’m 36 and we wanted to be able to prepare in the event that there was a genetic defect. I positive result wouldn’t have altered our decision to continue the pregnancy but I wanted to know if there was more to prepare for than your usual baby stuff. Some genetic defects require the baby to immediately be taken for surgery so I wanted to know ahead of time what to expect. We are very fortunate that all of our results were negative. We also liked the added benefit of finding out the gender early!

I just did the one for trisomy 13,1821 and gender. Mainly cuz I wanted to know the gender. I have the order for afp but I don’t think I’m gonna do that one

We opted out of everything for my daughter as well as this baby. IF, heaven forbid, anything was wrong, we’d catch it on the 20wk ultrasound. And it wouldn’t change anything regardless. There’s so many false positives with some of that early testing and I didn’t want to stress about it!

I've opted out both pregnancies. It's only a chance not for sure anyway. I think its unnecessary worry.  Choice is ultimately up to you though

FTM here. I talked to hubby about this because I was offered the screening at my appointment last week, but my mom was with me. My doctor told me not to tell her yes or no until I talked with my husband. It was an instant no from both of us. No matter what the tests show, we would not change the outcome of this pregnant. With me being young, healthy, no family history, and low risk I didn't feel it was necessary and hubby agreed.

We opted out and I don’t regret it. A friend of mine has also opted out for both of her children.

My insurance paid for it, I’ve had a previous miscarriage, and there wasn’t paperwork. I just a signature. I’m glad I did it
