Taking Atenolol while pregnant
Hello so I am about 4 weeks and 6 days pregnant. I am currently on atenolol 75mg BID and HCTZ 25 mg BID. Prior to trying to conceive I went to my OB and talked about my meds because I have tried labetalol, metoprolol ER, and nifedipine while on the labetalol. They did absolutely nothing for my BP after months of trying to get it under control and being on 500 mg three times a day of the labetalol and bringing nifedipine on board my BPs were still too high. So I gave up and went back to my old meds.
Well the OB I seen in July who is a high risk MD said I could continue on the atenolol with close monitoring of the baby and switched me from benazepril/HCTZ to just the HCTZ with the atenolol.
Well here we are I am now pregnant and i received a call that they want me to stop my meds and start labetalol 200mg BID. I am waiting on hearing back because I know I will not tolerate those meds.
I am fully aware that atenolol is a class D medication. If I could I would not take it.
I am wondering if anyone has been on atenolol while pregnant and how everything went?
Thanks so much
