What solids did you introduce at 4 months?

My baby will be 4 months in a couple days and I am so excited to start giving him solids here and there.
(Yes I was cleared by my pediatrician)

When you start solids consider real foods like fruits and veggies, not over processed cereals that are basically just baby junk food.

Personally though I’d wait until 6+ months as recommended by the World Health Organization, UNICEF, The American Academy of Family Physicians, National Health & Medical Research Council, and many prominent pediatricians. Your baby may “seem” ready before that (sitting up, reaching for food, etc.) but that doesn’t mean their stomach lining is actually ready. Waiting until the cells that line your baby's gut have closed helps prevent many allergies, gas, rashes, and medical issues and also shows less incidences of gastroenteritis, diabetes, and obesity.

Please don't. No solids until 6 months. It's not worth the risk of giving your child lifelong gastrointestinal issues. The problems don't show up right away so it's easy to think that everything is fine, but it's not. I would advise checking the American Academy of Pediatrics website. They have info on when and how to introduce solids.

Nada. Our pediatrician also told us to begin at 4 months and I went out the following day and found a new doctor lol seriously. Both the AAP and the WHO both say to wait until 6 months. That's the most current, up-to-date recommendation and I take that seriously. I didn't want a pediatrician who was giving out outdated information. So we waited until 6 months and did baby led weaning. No purees at all. Just regular solid table foods.

baby cereal! start with that.. give it to your baby for three days to make sure baby doesnt have allergies to it.. then try a different puree.

We did at 4 months a few times a week. I made oatmeal. Now he’s 7 months old and I make all his fruits and veggies and even meat. All organic.

My son had oatmeal cereal with banana and maize for 4 month olds, which he loved. He also loved pear, mango, and apple purées.
Now at 6.5 months I’m trying to get him to eat more vegetables but they make him gag and cry so I wish I’d started him on it earlier, he can’t be eating fruits and porridge all his life 🙄
