High initial beta numbers mean multiples?

I've read different theories on this. Wondering what you mommas have experienced

I did have super high HCG at 4 weeks (natural di/di twins) but I see so many women say they didn’t have it, or they had it with singletons. I don’t think that it’s a correlation for everyone.

I was a little suspicious bc of high beta #’s but I also transferred 2 embryos so I knew the likelihood of twins was higher than normal

For me, it wasn’t the actual number that was a sign, but it TRIPLED in 48hrs instead of doubled. The nurse called to tell me if my beta rose and said “It didn’t just double, it tripled! We will keep an eye on that...” Sure enough....there were two. :)

I was suspicious of twins because I got a positive test early at only 8dpo and then my beta for 10dpo was 62. 5 week ultrasound confirmed twins.

My pregnancy test came back positive at 3 weeks &1 day (super early). I had blood work at 3w&2 days, HCG was 46 but two days later at 3w&4 days it was 275. I had had two miscarriages previously and we were tracking everything with the doctor so I know my days were correct. We were supposed to start fertility treatments the next month. My doctor joked that it could be twins based on those numbers. I also got really bad morning sickness and was off work from 6 weeks till 9 weeks. When that happened he said his guess was twins. We had our first ultrasound at 9 weeks and yup, twins!

You generally do have high numbers with twins, but a lot of women have high numbers anyway with just one baby. So no way to tell from numbers alone.
