Pacifiers problems ?

Question

So I heard that if you give your kids any other type of pacifier that are not like the same shape of soothes. Babies in the long run will have problems with speech. So my question is to those moms that didn’t give there babies the soothes and use like nuk, mam, advent if you guys notice anything your babies speech as they got older ?

I thought it was the opposite, actually! I was under the impression that soothies aren’t great orthodontically and some of the others were designed to be for the developing mouth, but I could be wrong! 🙃

My daughter is 2.5 and still has her Soothie (don’t judge, she’s obsessed with it and bitch, I’m 27 weeks, I’m too tired for that shit lol). She has no speech delays or any kind of speech impediment. Her front four teeth on the top are bowed though.
Her best friend uses the one you can find anywhere (nuks etc) and she has a speech impediment. She also doesn’t talk much and what she does is difficult to understand. They are both obsessed with their pacifiers as well.

you can have speech issues without using a pacifier and from using a pacifier. the best thing is don't let your child use a pacifier all the time or talk with a pacifier in their mouth.

My oldest used the Phillips avent soothie up until 1yr old (she still didnt have any teeth by then) and she has a lisp my second daughter used nuk totally different shape and does not have a lisp and my third daughter refused any kind of pacifier and no lisp. Now I dont know if that's linked to why she has a lisp but right now its seeming like it but I'm no expert lol

Both my daughters had pacifiers (Nuk brand) until the age of 3 and neither one of them have speech or dental issues. Both started speaking at very young ages as well.

I can’t answer that from experience, but I’ve known so many people who didn’t use Soothies whose kids had no issues with speech

Absolutely not! My daughter used hers until 2.5yo and he has been taking full sentences since she was 18m. First words we well before her 1st birthday. Many ppl could fully understand her when she was little they were shocked. On the other hand, my son is 19m and not talking very much. He try’s to say words and he isn’t quite there yet. I think it’s more of a development thing and each baby is so different. I will get rid of his when he is 2.

I have a 3 year old who never used binkys and a 1.5 year old that can’t live without one. My 3 year old is still hard to understand but he try’s saying full sentences. I’m with him 24/7 so I’m the only one who really knows what he’s saying. My 1.5 year old talks more than my 3 year old but we have no clue what he says. He doesn’t ever say actual words that we can understand but talks constantly! To me, I don’t think it has anything to do with the binky but could🤷‍♀️ I think all kids just learn at a different pace then others and if there are “issues” with there speech in some way or another then there is always speech therapy. My husband never used a binky and he had to have speech therapy through elementary school because it was hard to understand him because he switched so many sounds.

My son will only take mams and he is a great talker. In fact, as I read this he just said “mmm, that’s delicious” as he eats his cereal. He’s 21 months old and still uses his, which I originally didn’t want but here we are.
