What do you think about this case?

I do want to add a small something, although I have not found a creditable enough source for it to be true. 
It is known that there were 8 people, in a 5 vehicle car. 
But some say, that the car seat was laid between the driver and passenger seat on the center console of the vehicle. 
I can not say, for sure, where the car seat had actually been laid.

Tbh you're not going to find a credible source on it. 
The driver should be charged with the appropriate charges for having too many people in the vehicle, and it needs to be found out if the car seat was properly buckled in or not. 
The cop should be charged with vehicular manslaughter, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving. Just as he would be if he were a civilian. 
The entire incident should be investigated by an outside, unbiased agency. Maybe a good one for IAB but I don't really know how that whole deal works.

The cop was 100% at fault. Yes, the baby wasn’t properly strapped in, but that doesn’t excuse the actions of the officer. 
Can it be proven that the baby would have survived if s/he was properly strapped in?

I’m sorry but I change my answer, both mother and driver needs to be charged with neglect homicide. How the fuck do you think your child is secured on the middle console between the driver and passenger seat. That is in fact endangering your child’s life!

They should ALL be charged. There is a story about in ABC, but I didn't feel like taking and posting a bunch of screenshots. They (the adults) WILLINGLY risked ALL the lives of the children. She was a baby and was stuffed between the two front seats and not even in her carseat right? Shit makes my blood boil. I mean, clearly the girl who was driving wasn't paying either because you'd be able to tell that a car is going faster than they should be, and she should have waited to turn. As for the asshole driver of the corvette, of course he should be charged for whatever fits crime. Reckless endangerment, vehicular manslaughter, speeding, etc.

I wonder how this would go if the cop was just a civilian, I bet your ass he would have been charged with everything they could possibly and sent to jail. The mother should have properly secured her child because unfortunately this is what can happen if a child is not properly secured in their car seat but I don’t think the mother should be charge with homicide, if anything a citation on the straps and maybe child endangerment which would also just be a citation, definitely not jail time. They need to look at this case the correct way since the officer was off duty, in his personal car going way over the speed limit and wrecking into another car. The driver and other passengers definitely deserved their citation with the no seat belt because it is against the law to not wear one. No way should they have been riding in a 5 seater car with 8 people, but i still think the mother should have just got citations and the cop needs to be in jail for the right charges, they gave him a slap on the wrist and also gave him payed leave time when he should get fired IMO but at least suspicion with no pay!
