Going Back to Work

Christiana

My son is 8 months old. I went back to work for a few weeks while he was 3 months old but I had to quit due to unforeseen circumstances. I’ve recently decided that I need to head back, but I have no idea what to do about child care. My mother-in-law has volunteered to watch him, but she is having a major surgery tomorrow and won’t be able to care for him for a few weeks. I’m personally more comfortable with an at-home nanny/sitter. I have a few questions:

How much should I pay per hour?

What credentials should the sitter have?

What is appropriate to ask of them to do care-wise?

(Side-note: I barely trust my mother-in-law with my son, let alone a stranger. Him being breastfed is making the anxiety a million times worse. I just need reassurance mostly)
