Question

What would happen to you and the kids if your SO left you tomorrow? Do you have anything in place financially? A degree or a skill that would help you get a job? Or would you be screwed waiting for the divorce money? 
Do you have a secret account for “emergencies” ? 
I know you will all say “my SO would NEVER leave me like that”
But, hypothetically, he did. So, what would you do?

I’m the breadwinner, I’d be fine. I’d have to move to a smaller place with lower rent but that’s not a huge deal. But if I left him I have no idea what he’d do, he doesn’t make enough to pay for any 2-bedroom plus daycare for 2.

I unexpectedly lost my husband of 20+yrs July 2018. He literally did everything for me and my children. To say it’s been hard and devastating is an extreme understatement but the one thing that kept my family together is his foresight to buy life insurance. Enough to at least let me get to a place of coping and building a career of my own to support us.  I wish he had left more of the everyday financial paperwork and passwords somewhere I could of found them cause wading through all of the finances has been almost impossible since I had nothing to do with any of them pruooto his passing.

I was in an abusive relationship and I was in fear of our lives when I was pregnant, I had a great job and could have supported us but was too afraid to stay that close. I’m blessed that I have a loving and supportive family that got us away and gave us time to reestablish. I’m in a new relationship now and I’ve considered having a secret account but I don’t think it’s fair to him either. Not all men are bad. We’d be able to figure it out still if something happened but I want to believe that’s a position I won’t have to be in again.

My husband earns more than me. I can move to a smaller place. But that's to answer the financial part. Emotionally I am so dependent on him, I don't know what will I do. I love my family of 3( soon to be of 4). The giggles, laughter and sometimes stress we all share with each other is way more expensive then any financial changes to be made to the situation, if something like that ever happens.

Honestly, I would be completely lost. I stay at home with my 3 kids and I homeschool them. I need my husband. So I would have to get help from my family. I'm sure his family would help me too (I'm the favorite daughter in law), especially if it was his choice and not mine. It would be tough and heartbreaking. But he would end up having to pay child support for 3 children plus alimony to me. He can't afford to leave me. 😂 Thankfully our marriage is rock solid and I have no fear of this.

We both work, I'd be fine. Plus I have a very supportive and generous family.
