How did you get through your baby’s first cold?

What did you do to make life easier for you and for your baby when your little one got his or her first cold?
Currently facing our sons first cold. Let’s just say he wasn’t a great sleeper to begin with. After four months the four month sleep regression hit and then we got slapped with a cold and possible ear infection on top of that. 
I could really use some success stories on how you other parents got through this type of situation!

My son didn't get his first cold until he was older (1.5 y/o). It was still horrible though. I was pregnant too.  We just made sure to push fluids, use nasal spray and keep his nose clean. I would also spray the house down with Lysol every night after he went to bed. Air out the house if possible. Keep a humidifier going.  
My daughter got sick at 2 months. (Got to love jerks who bring their sick kids around. ) I used nasal spray, inclined her mattress, humidifier. Lots of cuddles. She ended up with an ear infection too so she was on amoxicillin.

I cried lol, it was bad and she couldn’t sleep for like 2 days! Which meant I didn’t sleep for 2 days

The first couple of days/the fever stage of the cold SUCK.  You will not get a lot of sleep.
You can run a humidifier, turn the shower on and sit in the steamy bathroom, get saline and suction out the nose frequently, and dose with Tylenol to help with the pain.
We had illnesses where we took turns sitting in the rocking chair all night because the baby only got relief from the congestion if they sat upright.
The first few days you won’t get sleep, but once you get over that, there will be a few days of awesome sleep.  Awesome sleep is awaiting you on the other side of this.
