Smoking and co-sleeping
HELP
Alright, I’ll try to make it short. Basically our baby girl is due in 3 weeks. My partner smokes. NEVER in the house or if out and about I never inhale the smoke. However, we want to co-sleep with our daughter (she’ll sleep in her next to me cot, ideally) and I’ve heard/read that sleeping in the same room where there is a smoker increases the chances of sudden infant death syndrome. I also get anxious thinking that whenever we’re out with the baby, and my partner smokes, the smell will linger in his clothes/hands/mouth so I won’t let him hold the baby or kiss her AT ALL. While being at home he can always wash himself, change clothes and stuff... Am I being too strict? What is your experience with a smoker parter/yourselves? Let’s forget the idea of him giving up as he’s not willing to at the moment. His excuse is he’s too stressed out (has a really demanding job) but will obviously never smoke around the baby or in the house.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read/reply to this. I am really anxious about this topic :(
