My birth story, very late post
I was scheduled to be induced on thursday, February 28th at 3am. I didnt want anyone in my family to know until i was close to giving birth because when my mom was giving birth to me everyone was there without even ever meeting my mother before then. So on thursday at 3 am we were in the hospital doing some last minute updates on my account and we got to the induction around 5am. I was already dialated 2.5 cm when we got to the hospital, i got to 6cm by noon when my water was broken by the doctor and about an hour later i started getting contractions. Let me just say, my stomach was pain free... all the pain was on my lower back. I had gotten the epidural around 1:30pm and not long after i fell asleep until around 4pm and thats when family started getting there. At around 5:40 i was ready to push, and family was bombarding me with asking if they could be in the room, but i was already on so many medications and pushing i didnt really care at that point, or didnt really know how to say no since i only wanted my mom and my SO in the room. My dad asked first and was behind the curtain the whole time, my step mom and my boyfriends mom walked in later and not long after my grandma walked in. I was so tired and annoyed but i couldnt even talk while pushing. At 5:59pm my baby, Olivia, was born weighing 7lbs 3 oz and measuring 21in (just like i did when i was born). Soon after i had chills and was shaking pretty bad, i didnt want to hold Olivia in fear of dropping her because i was so shaky and unstable. Once i said i wasnt going to carry her my step mother tried taking her from the doctors and at that point i hadnt even delivered the placenta. My SO had to leave my side to settle everyone in the room. By this time my shaking had gotten worse, i couldnt even hold a cup of water on my own and i felt too tired to hold my head up. I had lost so much blood that if i had lost any more than what i did i was going to need a blood transfusion. Keep in mind i was half fainting and shaking really badly while everyone in the room that i had not invited in was surrounding Olivia filled with laughter, so much to the point my SO and mom felt uneasy and were close to kicking everyone out. The nurses and my doctor kept asking if i wanted to carry Olivia but i felt too weak to do anything so i kept saying no. I had a fever in addition to the blood loss and it kept going up until they put me on more medication to help lower my temperature which had spiked at 103.5 degrees while my baby's temp spiked at 102 degrees. When i felt comfortable enough to carry my baby around 2 hours later i couldnt hold her for long as i felt too hot. The nurses kept me in the delivery room until my and my baby's fever had passed. I know that for my next baby, i will not have that many people in the room as i feel that ruined our experience. Here is Olivia in my stomach, when she was born, and now.
