3 days of labor...birth story..LONG POST*
So, I figured I should share my birth story while it's still somewhat fresh on my mind.
So Tuesday of last week, march 12, I went in to begin my induction (my due date was on March 10, so we were more than ready!) I went in with such a clear mind and happy thoughts of having my child by the next day! Well that quickly changed...
When we went in they started me on the lovely cervidil at 5pm for 12 hours..by 10 o'clock I was having some pretty painful contractions and I was all around extremely uncomfortable. I was restless at this point, couldnt sleep and I didnt want the epidural yet because I knew it was too soon, so I just suffered through it till morning..
Well morning came and they checked my cervix and I was still only 4cm dialted (they said this is normal because it did thin me out) so I was still hopeful that when they started the pitocin it would be pretty quick before our little bean was here ! (Again, that quickly changed)
I was on the pitocin allllll day and they took it to the highest dose, I was having contractions every 2-3 minutes, but again only 4 cm dialted. I finally got some pain relief and took a short half hour nap around 5pm and the contractions completely stopped. By 7 the doctors came in and gave me 3 options. 1. Keep the pitocin where it's at and hope that something happens 2. Stop the pitocin, let me eat and shower, and start the pitocin back up around 10ish. Or 3. Let me go home and hope that something happens on it's own.
I was MORTIFIED. I couldnt even get words out because I was So hopeful that I would of had my child already.
My husband and I discussed to each other that there was no point in going home because we were already here.
So I ate some dinner and headed to the shower, in the shower i had my "bloody show" so I thought to myself alright this is good, maybe this means hes getting himself ready.
So again we started the pitocin, we took a much slower approach to it this time, only upping it by 1 every half hour vs the 2 we did the day before. - it started to do the trick and I was having the contractions again, every 2 minutes, but they were tolerable. No sleep again that night, so by morning the doctors came in and AGAIN I was only 4cm- this doctor basically said screw it, you've been here long enough and he broke my water around 10am.
Let me tell you, that was the trick! I decided to get the epidural immediately after because I had a gut feeling that things were going to progress and I was done suffering ! (I also want to add that my contractions were all in my back)
Well the epidural did its job of making my right leg numb, but that was about it 😂... I started to feel extremely sick to my stomach and I called my nurse in, my blood pressure dropped wayy down, and I was beginning to pass out( at this point I sent my husband out to get himself some food so he had no idea what was going on) after an hour they got my blood pressure back up and the contractions started to get extremely intense. I felt EVERYTHING. Everytime a contraction came I would shake and tell my husband I am never doing this again.. lol. Finally around 1 I called my nurse in because I felt so m
uch pressure that I could barely lay there- so she checked and she said i was 5cm. So i thought to myself omg, I am only 5cm and I can barely handle this, what is going to happen at 9cm? 15 more minutes passes and I again called my nurse in because I had to push. She laughed until she checked me and said i was at 10 cm!! THANK GOD. So just the three of us(my nurse, husband and myself) started pushing at 220pm, after about 15 minutes of pushing the doctor came in and after 30 minutes total of pushing our little boy was FINALLY born at 2:53 pm on pi day....
