Is it possible that a baby can be too big to deliver vaginally?

I’m currently 16 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I’m a little worried about delivery. I heard that the doctor is able to tell you about how much your baby weighs through ultrasound before they’re born. What if they find out that the baby is big... like 10 or more pounds. Would that be a reason for a cesarean? I’m sorry I hope this isn’t a dumb question!

No, plenty people have babies that are on the bigger side naturally. Ultrasounds aren’t usually super accurate on weight. They can go either way about 2 lbs. With my first, they said she’d be 8-9lbs, she was barely 6lbs. The one thing tho is if baby has wide shoulders but that I don’t think they can tell until labor and pushing is happening

It’s not a dumb reason at all! But yes, some drs would recommend a csection for that reason. Don’t worry, it is rare 🥰

It’s extremely rare to grow a baby that can’t fit through your pelvis, but doctors tend to err on the side of just giving you the c-section “in case”.
Ultrasounds are frequently off by 2 pounds, so many “10 pounders” come out at a perfectly normal size

Random fact: women who died in child birth would eventually get wider hips and since c sections are a thing now women aren’t “evolving and adapting” to the larger babies than there used to be and eventually nobody is going to be able to have a vaginal delivery because we keep saving people from childbirth.

My daughter was 8’7 and got stuck/shoulder dystocia. They suggested i have a c section this time. I will have an ultrasound around 37 weeks to measure how big my son is. I pray I can push him out and not have to get a c section 🤞🏾

33% of our species is not broken. And they are cutting 33% of us open to deliver our young. We have veered so far away from our birthing instincts it’s almost unrecognizable. We tell our daughters from birth how much it hurts rather than how empowering it was to birth them. We tell every pregnant woman the most horrible of stories and glorify that pain as it somehow wins us respect by having the most gory and awful experience. I am 5ft 220lbs and I have birthed 9’5”, 8”8’ and 7’11” babies. I have had an unecessary c-section. If we continue to treat our women as if they cannot birth without the Godsend of modern medicine and intervention we will fulfill that prophecy. Evolutionarily we will cease to be able to birth vaginally.
