there is no “cherry” and NO part of your vagina should ever “pop” that saying is so fucked up. SOME people with a pronounced hymen which is basically just extra skin that partially covers the vaginal opening can tear if there isn’t enough foreplay, but that’s the extent of any “cherry popping”. i never really had a hymen so there was no blood my first time, and in most cases with foreplay and lubrication there should never have to be.

The word “sex” is just a classification of a sexual act. Why do you strictly search for a definition that goes in with a label. It’s a social construct. Some people consider many different things sex.
For me, when you’re both trying to give each other an orgasm this counts as sex to me, people can have different explanations to that word: “sex”.
