Hoarse toddler cry it out?

Question

my 20 month old had a cold and  so I let her sleep with me in my bed so I could monitor her fever.... well now she won’t sleep in her room. I want to just let her cry it out but her voice is soooo hoarse from this cold she’s getting over... I don’t want her to damage it even more, but I also don’t want to make this bad habit worse.. what should I do?

Answer

The way I done it was to never let her sleep in my bed, only her bed. So I would do a bath, read a book, put night light on, give her hugs and kisses then lay her down and walk or if the room. If she started crying I would time it and let her cry for 5 minutes, go in and comfort her and put her back down then repeat until she went to sleep. After a few weeks she was sleeping like a charm and still does to this day at 10 years old.
