18 months - normal or not?

My son is 18 months old, and does the following:
- Throws tantrums left, right and centre. 
- Picks up EVERYTHING and puts it in his mouth (never swallows, just runs away, laughing as I try to get it off him).
- Touches things he knows he’s not supposed to (goes from one thing to another).
- Looks at me and grins when he’s about to touch something he’s not allowed to.
- Doesn’t care about getting a smack. Laughs it off and does wrong again. 
- when I say no, he doesn’t listen.
- ignores me when I say his name.
- Chews food, spits it out or throws it.
Is this normal? How can I stop it?!

He is testing boundaries. Very normal at his age. You need to be consistent with whatever parenting discipline technique you choose and always respond the same to his actions. His understanding of rules is low at this point which is why you have to be patient and repeat yourself often and be consistent. Eventually, with enough repetition, those neural connections in his brain will form and he will understand how you expect him to behave and the consequences if he does not. But in the meantime expect him to keep testing boundaries. Hang in there. This is called the terrible 2s for a reason although they often go from 18 months to age 3 ish to be honest.

Very normal. LO is almost 2 and she does these things mostly when shes tired.  She doesn't like naps, never has...so we try quiet time when it gets bad.
