NO HCG COUNT DONE & NO ULTRASOUND TILL 18-20 weeks. ⁉️
So this is my 3rd pregnancy, but will be my second child. I had my first baby last July and with my blood work done for that pregnancy the hcg wasn’t done but I was given an ultrasound at 8-9 weeks to get an accurate due date.
THIS time around I’m being told I wont get an ultrasound till 18-20 weeks since I know the first day of my last period (I knew my last pregnancy as well)... unless I opt for a NT scan (which we are anyway) but I think it’s ridiculous that otherwise we wouldn’t see our baby till 18-20 weeks, what if there’s more than one?! We won’t know till half way through. Not to mention we’d like to see our baby to make this more real. I literally feel the same right now. HCG count wasn’t checked off on my blood work, I seriously didn’t understand why it wasn’t done with my last pregnancy but since I had an ultrasound it wasn’t too bad, but now I literally have nothing that says yes this is a viable pregnancy except that I have a positive pregnancy test.
Anyone else deal with this before? I just feel it’s ridiculous we aren’t getting an ultrasound done routinely in the first trimester to just see that everything is where it should be. This appointment was with a nurse practitioner who works in my family doctors office (I don’t see an OB till 28ish weeks) I seen her throughout my last pregnancy and she was great, but I’m thinking for my next appointment I might ask to see my family doctor and request an hcg count, and then also have him put through for the NT scan (a dating ultrasound at this point would be a waste of time since my NT scan would be around 11 weeks). My next appointment for my doctor is when I’m 9-10 weeks, so until then we will just have to be patient. 🙄🙄🙄
