Milk coming in?? 😭

Y'all. I have birth on the 31st in the afternoon which puts me at 2 days PP and my milk has yet to come in. Breastfeeding hurts(Nipples and the cramps are no joke y'all) and my sweet little boy isn't getting the calories so I'm having to give him some formula just so he actually has some food because I'm barely producing colustrum(??) And it's absolutely killing me that I can't provide the nutrients for my baby boy...Any advice??

I’d stop the formula all together unless he has a medical reason for it. Having him latch as often and for as long as he wants to will help your milk come in. My milk didn’t come in until day 5-6 and my daughter did her eat with the colostrum she was getting.

baby’s stomach is the size of a cherry. No joke. It will grow each day. It is not uncommon for milk to come in for 5+ days. Your body is producing enough. Your baby can draw out more colostrum than a pump can so every time you give your baby formula you’re telling you’re body baby doesn’t need as much. Every baby loses weight after birth in the first few days. Every baby. Put down the formula for a week and just nurse, nurse, nurse. I know it’s painful. The best thing you can do is nipple cream, airing them out, and speaking with a laceration consultant To help with a good latch. The soreness will go away, and your milk will come in. Your baby only needs a tiny, tiny, tiny amount of milk in the first few days of life.

His stomach is so small he barely needs anything. I gave birth in a Sunday and my milk didn’t come in until wed night Thursday morning. Your producing plenty enough for him. Just let him nurse as often as he wants.

Unless you’ve been told differently by a doctor, stop the formula and feed from the breast. Tiny babies need barely any colostrum but it’s normal for them to want to be on you all the time, whether feeding or for comfort. That’s the only way to get your milk to come in and then to increase your supply

I was in the same boat, I had a LC tell me to give him formula. I pumped though bc he wouldn’t latch. I pumped every 2 hrs for 20 mins. Milk came in day 3 he was totally off formula by day 5. 
You need to breastfeed or pump so your milk will come in. Supply and demand. Good luck momma

My milk didn't come in until I was almost 5 days postpartum. I didn't supplement though since their little bellies are so small. Let him latch as much as possible, he's going to eat every hour or so. Don't feel like your supply isn't keeping up, he needs to clusterfeed in order for you milk to come in. Powerpumping, eating oatmeal, lots of water/gatorade, and skin to skin helped my supply tremendously. I hope this helps, good luck! Don't feel bad if you do end up needing to supplement or switch to formula, fed is best. :)

I worry about this so much. Especially with twins on the way. I didn’t even attempt to breastfeed my son when I had him 3 years ago and I was set on doing it this time. Now idk how I’ll be able to keep up. 😩
