Does anyone know anything about shellac nails?

I'm thinking about getting my first shellac manicure tomorrow. In the past I've always gotten acrylics but they are so damaging! And after having them off a few months my nails are grown so I don't want to ruin them all over again. If anyone can tell me how long they last, if they can lengthen, and just general about them that'd be great! Thanks!☺

Shellac does similar, but less, damage than acrylic. Polish lasts around 2-3 weeks depending on how quickly your nails grow and how much you pick at the polish. It is recommended that you take a break every once in awhile, but I do not remember how long.

I think the shellac does just as much damage to your nails as the acrylics. I only get shellac for special occasions but I have it now. Mine usually lasts almost two weeks til it starts growing out but my nails grow fast. Then once you remove it or have it removed your nails look a lot like they do when you have the acrylics taken off.

I had them done once but the polish completely peeled off my nails! Not even chipping, but sometimes half the nail or even almost all of it. I went back to the salon to have them redone but it just happened again so I gave up on it. I'm not sure if it was just the polish, or the technique of the beautician though. I want to try it again, but go to another salon.
