Sexualization *TW*

I want to start off by stating that my intention for writing this post is not to offend anyone or upset them. I am strictly asking so I can analyze peoples' point of view. Please keep that in mind while reading this. I understand it can be a touchy subject. Please excuse any grammar errors.

I am an 18 yo old woman who is a victim of sexual abuse and have noticed an uprise in people standing up for "stopping sexualization", for lack of a better word/term. I agree that people should feel comfortable walking outside and should not have to fear sexual remarks or catcalling.

I, too, have experieced these things. It's upset me, it's made me question my position, it's made me angry and it has definetly riled me up.

Although, the term "stop sexualizing" doesn't make sense to me. I understand "stop catcalling" and "stop being disrespectful and intrusive" but, "stop sexualizing"?

Us, sexual human beings, and every other species thrive due to the fact that we have managed to stay alive and reproduce.

How is a man/woman, open to dating/sexual experiences, supposed to not look at you in a lustful or sexual manner? We are visual creatures. We glance at everything once we walk into a room, even at tiny things of zero relevance.

Among this, I have also noticed a lot of individuals saying "I'll wear what I want, it's my body" but also stand up for "stopping sexualization".

How is it that one can expect to wear a revealing or form fitting outfit without getting stared at or sexualized? Do some want to be sexualized?

As visual creatures, we're drawn to things we find appealing. By wearing less revealing clothing, I've come to discover that I get either lesser, or a lesser form of attention.

There seem to be 2 teams of people when it comes to sexualization. How can we, as women and men, expect to stop sexualization when people make comfortable livings based on sexualization, with occupations such as male/female stripping, prostitution and porn? The porn industry is thriving, they have enough money to attempt to manifest an idea for sex in space.

How do we stop this when there's billions being poured into these industries? How do we say "stop staring at my tits" and have it stick, when there are others who expose themselves intimately for paper money and the glorification behind the accolades? We live in an environment that forces oversexualization.
