Spotting????

I was supposed to start my period today but my boyfriend and I had sex and then I started spotting and I thought I was my period so I put a tampon in for a couple hours and there was only the tiniest spot of light red blood on it when I pulled it out. The rest was dry (Owwwww) I usually start full force when I get my period so this one is super weird. The last week I haven’t felt any of my usually period symptoms. I took a test 7 days ago and it was negative but now I feel like I should test again. What do y’all think?
