What do you dress baby in?

By the time my baby comes it will be mid August. I live in Fresno California where the summers here get to at least 103/107 sometimes higher. So what do I dress baby in? because I know babies cant regulate their body temperature yet as newborns, but I also dont want to overheat my baby either. It's kinda making me anxious. I also dont know what to put on my registry because of this (weather). . Do I put long sleeves, short sleeves, beenies? Please help I'm frustrated, confused.. and I dont have anyone else to ask 🤯😔

I had my first in August in Texas and my second will also be here in August. We spent most of our time in those early days inside where the a.c. was cranked up, so we dressed her in long sleeves. When we hung outside I'd put her in a dress or a short sleeve onesie. Having both should come in handy.

Just a short sleeved onesie. The purpose of a hat and socks is to hold heat in, so those won’t be necessary.

I had a June baby in Texas. He wore short sleeved onesies during the day. At night he wore a diaper and a swaddle and even that seemed too warm. He didn’t wear sleepers until maybe November? Ask for gift cards instead and get what you need once the baby comes. You can easily have simple baby clothes shipped to your home quickly.

I've had a late September baby and an early July baby. They both wore the exact same cotton footie sleeper home.

Rule of thumb is dress baby in one layer more than your comfortable in.  You will likely be inside most of the time when baby is only a few days old to a few weeks old which I’m assuming will have air conditioning? For newborn and 0-3 m sizes I would get regular baby clothes. Maybe a few short sleeve onesies and little pants to go with and a few long sleeve onesies and pants to go with. Get footy zip up pajamas that are a lightweight materials and a couple sleepsacks that are lightweight. No fleece material. My baby was born in august. He wore a short sleeve onesie and a halo sleepsack swaddle to bed at night because we didn’t have air conditioning so it was hot in our house. If I had AC he would have been wearing a zip up pajama and a halo sleepsack swaddle over it. It wasn’t until October that he transitioned to his footy zip up pajamas and a sleepsack over it.  A good room temp for baby is about 68-70 degrees so try to keep your house and bedroom temperature about that. If you take him on walks i would avoid the hottest part of the day and do an early morning or evening walk. Once baby is a couple months old they can regulate temp a little better and you will have a good feel for what is too many layers for baby and when baby is too cold.
