OB/GYN or Midwife?

Trying to decide which option would be best, I really would love to hear your personal experiences!!!

The main difference between doctors and midwives is that while midwives are trained to deal with women who are having normal, uncomplicated, low-risk pregnancies, doctors are trained to handle any complications. If there are any complications with your pregnancy or if any develop while you are pregnant and under the care of a midwife, you will be referred to an obstetrician. 
I personally prefer an OB over a midwife even though I have midwives at my practice. A doctor’s knowledge surpasses that of a midwife. They are specifically trained in many more areas other than birthing and prenatal care. Yes, midwives are knowledgeable and give a more personalized experience with minimal intervention, but I think an actual doctor’s education and training is better overall. Just my personal experience. I’ve been pregnant four times and have had three babies.

I have an OB, but he has a midwife that works with him. I have seen them both and love them! I think the main thing is finding someone you like and who makes you feel comfortable and supported.

It depends. 
I chose an OB, because I love mine. 
If my options were an OBGYN who had a high intervention/caesarean rate I’d probably search for a different OB or a midwife. 
If my choice is between an OB or a midwife who are I equally like, I’m still choosing an OB because of their level of education and training. Just my preference. I have a few midwifes/nurse midwives in my family and I respect them, but still choose an OB. 
Really it’s who YOU trust and feel safe with.

Midwife every time. Much more personal, just as educated in babies and mamas, and more often than not they avoid unnecessary medical interventions. They are more likely to view pregnancy and birth as natural rather than a dangerous medical condition. Of course if you have a high risk pregnancy than you will need an OB.

(idk if this answer will be helpful or not) but it’s really personal preference & what you want to come out of your pregnancy. 
people say midwifes are a lot more personal then OB’s but on the other hand people also say OB’s have more practice & knowledge then midwifes.
i have met some amazing OB’s & some amazing midwives.
if it makes you feel any better do some research and find a midwife, sit down have a conversation with them and let them know what you would like out of this pregnancy, express your wants, and your concerns and if you like that midwife go with them! If not, and you want to go with an OB just not sure about your current OB, you can always switch! It’s better to sooner then later. 
Personally I have had amazing experiences with both, so i am not super bias.

Midwife, hands down (as long as you're not high risk).  However, my midwives deliver in a hospital and are partnered with an OB team who's on call 24/7 should the need for their services arise.  I feel like it's the best of both worlds.  My pregnancy and birth (currently pregnant with #2) are treated as normal and interventions are less common.  The care is much more personalized and in some cases seems more thorough.

At my office there is both. I saw a few of each before I decided to go with a midwife. They were all certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board so I felt confident they were well educated and could handle anything that came up and if an issue occurred during delivery then there was an OB also on call at the hospital. I did end up having a 4th degree tear so the OB did have to stitch me up. I would choose a midwife again if they let me since I'll be at least 36 the next time I'm pregnant.

I LOVE my midwives.  I used an OB with my first and everything about that pregnancy and delivery was miserable.  Second pregnancy, I started with a new OB and felt constantly brushed off and rushed through each appointment, questions left unanswered.  I switched to a midwife and was so much happier.  I started right off with a midwife team this time and the entire team’s attention and care from the start has been amazing.  
If I exceeded any of their risk factors though, I’d have to switch to a midwife/OB team though.

Personally i trust an ob over midwife my aunt had horrible ones and all the ones near me are back woods barley educated much on pregnancy
