Is it insulting to name your baby girl Cheyenne if you are not Native American?

Please forgive me if I sound silly at all.  I’ve seen a lot of hate online regarding naming your child Cheyenne, especially different variations, like Cheyanne, or Shyanne, etc.  what do you think?  Can anyone give me info on this?  Its such a beautiful name but I don’t want to make a mistake naming my daughter something that will give her a hard time in life

My name is Cheyenne. I am very very little American Indian. Trust me when I say, it does not matter one bit if you’re Indian or not. Most people don’t even know it’s an American Indian name honestly. I have never had an issue with my name from anyone in my 23 years of life.

Cheyenne isn’t a Native American name but a tribe that lived on the Great Plains of North America. I love the name. I’m not sure about it from cultural sensitivity side but I hadn’t thought about it. Best of luck with finding a name. It is hard!!

I honestly have no problem with someone naming their child that and not being Native American.  If fact, being offended about it would probably be the furthest thing from my mind. 
Plus there was a 'Cheyenne' in the show 'Reba' who was white which would probably be my first thought in hearing that name.

I have never heard of anyone claiming Cheyenne is strictly for Native Americans. I know many Cheyenne’s and none of them are Native American 🤷‍♀️ I don’t think they’ve ever been given hate about their name.

When I named my son I picked something that wouldn't make him get picked on for his name. We live in a sensitive world. If you're questioning it then don't do it.
