Depo shot or nah?

So tomorrow I'm going in to see my doctor to talk about birth control. All of my friends are on the shot and haven't complained about it at all. But then I've read things about it that kinda makes me iffy about it. What should I do?

I was on it for over a year, never gained weight and in the beginning I was spitting a lot but it got a lot better after two months and never saw any blood, never had cramps. And when I got off it, I forgot how horrible being a girl is sometimes!

I was only on it for 3 rounds (9 months) I didn't really have any bad side effects, I totally lost my period & I even lost weight while on It but it took me a whole 2 years to get my period back.. yeah it might sound fun but it gets to be scary at a point in time .. I would recommend the copper IUD, They insert it into your uterus, you can leave it for up to 10 years and it is non hormonal so you will not have any weird side effects.. I am currently on it now and I even forget that I'm on birth control, it's something you should look into at least..

If i had the chance to go back, I would have never got on it. I gained 30+lbs EASY and now it's been a struggle concieving. I'm hoping now that my period has finally started that this month will be our month but this might have all been avoided.

My friend got the depo shot and had heavy spotting for two months straight... Another friend got it and gained +15 lbs.

I've never gotten it personally but based on other people's experiences, I'd rather just take the pill; at least I know I can stop taking it if I have a bad side effect, you'd have to ride out the depo.

I was on it for quite a while, loved the convenience of not having to take a pill everyday. But, it made me very depressed, upset & bitchy - side effects that my mother had and the same side effects that my friend has. I also spotted a lot when it was time to get the shot again.

I do not recommend it. I gained 30lbs in 2 rounds (6 months!) I was fine for the first month, then I was experiencing pms symptoms for the whole second month and bleeding for the last whole month. I thought I was a fluke and that's why I went for a second round of it. When it happened again, I switched to pills. Trust me, with a smart phone alarm, you'll never forget your pill!
You can always talk to your doctor though, but I highly recommend not getting the shot. (I do highly recommend my generic pills, Velivet! They are low dose and I don't cramp much I don't breakout much and I bleed for 4-5 days!)
