My Story

Sarah

I had my nexplanon implant removed last October because my hubby and I wanted to start trying. So I waited impatiently for my body to adjust. After about a month, I started getting my period again. January rolled around and that’s the last time I got an actual period. Or so I thought. February came and went with no bleeding. Then, last month (around mid March), I spotted for a couple days. I was super excited because I thought I was getting my period. But no, only very light bleeding that only lasted 3 days (if that). Fast forward to about 2-3 weeks ago. I had been getting cramps everyday. Nothing super intense or painful but definitely menstrual-like cramps. I kept expecting my period to come. This went on for about a week before one night, I googled what could be causing cramping with no period. One of the possibilities I read about was pregnancy. Even more, several days before this, I was talking to a coworker’s wife who told me her first symptom of pregnancy was cramping. I had a spare test lying around and thought “well why not?” I got off the couch and ran upstairs. I didn’t expect to get a positive but I had to see after what I had learned. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw a VVFL!! I thought for sure it was a fluke. I even posted the test on here and people commented saying “yes, you’re pregnant!” But I still couldn’t believe it. I went to bed and in the morning, as soon as I woke up, I peed on two cheap strips. Those both were clearly positive!! But yet, I STILL couldn’t believe it. I figured, they’re cheap, they don’t work. So during lunch, I went to the store and bought four first response tests. They were all positive!! I was googling all sorts of reasons as to what could cause false positives. The only viable answer I found was that I had a ovarian cyst. Some of the symptoms even match with pregnancy, including cramping. But I didn’t want to believe it. I’ve never had one before anyway. So I went back into the store and bought markers and note cards. I came home from work later that day and hid clues all around the house. I put the 4 pregnancy tests on a plate and put the plate in the oven. He came home and I told him he was going on a treasure hunt. The last clue led him to find the tests (which I recorded without him knowing!). That was over two weeks ago and I’ve developed more and more symptoms. Fatigue, morning sickness, MAJOR mood swings!! If I did get a period from the little bleeding I had in March and just had a short cycle, then I’m about 6 weeks along. But who knows? I could be further along. I won’t see a doctor for a couple more weeks so I won’t know for sure until then. And I know I didn’t get pregnant from my period in January because I had a blood test done at the end of February for something unrelated and no pregnancy then. At this point, I don’t care! I just take my vitamins everyday and pray that I have a healthy pregnancy. I’ve also still been taking pregnancy tests because I love seeing the two lines and every time I test, they get darker and darker!

It’s kinda funny! For months after getting my implant removed, I did all I could to get pregnant. I used preseed, tracked my period and ovulation (or lack thereof), took prenatals, BDed all the time, used certain positions more than others, etc. But once my period stopped coming, I stopped all that. We still had sex a lot but that’s about it. I just didn’t see the point with no period.

So to anyone who’s losing hope, getting frustrated, or not getting a period... stay positive!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
