What do I do?

Question

When I got home tonight (around midnight) we see a hot water heater and cable for it laying in our front lawn. My immediate response was to rush into the house we are renting and nothing has been moved and we still have our hot water heater. Someone has dumped their old hot water heater in our lawn. 
We rent the house we are in. I’m not sure what to do with it being the weekend. The hot water heater is still filled. 
Help please. I’m lost at what to do and I’m beyond upset that someone has dumped this in my yard.

Trash companies don’t always pick up large items like that and potentially charge extra when they do. If it were me, I’d call the non emergency police number for your area and see what they advise before a neighbor calls blight or files a complaint. And I’d call my landlord first thing in the morning making sure it was not him doing some work he didn’t tell you about. Maybe you’ll get lucky and some scrappers will pick it up overnight

Thank you everyone and sorry if it seemed I needed to “chill out.” There is house just up my road that is doing renovations and they seem like the prime suspect. I called my landlord and no one has planned on any kind of work. I did move it from in front of my yard to garbage pick up area and called the non emergency number to let them know the time it was there when we arrived home and that it was not there when we had left that morning for work. 
In my city, the city will not move it. We have to physically move it to the dump and probably have to pay to have it disposed. It was just another thing that I did not want to happen this weekend. So thanks to some person(s) that didn’t want to dispose of their problem properly I get to pay for it to be removed.
