Pumping while Breastfeeding. Tips?

Hey girls - I’ve only started pumping this week (baby girl 3 weeks tomorrow)
I’m not sure how often I should be pumping in order to build up some stock, keep breastfeeding baba and not over-supply. Any advice?

You could just start with once or twice a day. Obviously it isn't recommended to start so early but if you have to go back to work really soon,  I totally understand and it is fine. It does take practice abs try doing your pump sessions in the early mornings or middle of the night as your body makes the most milk at that time! Look up legendairy milk online. They sell supplements BUT have such awesome advice when it comes to pumping, going back to work, building supply, you name it!

I had to start pumping early on to supplement baby between feeds. I pump maybe once a day or to replace bottle feeds when my husband wants to feed baby or I have to leave the house. Have been doing it since week 1. No longer had to supplement baby after 2 weeks but kept occasionally pumping. Haven’t had any problems with engorgement. Almost 7 weeks now and supply has regulated and I don’t get engorged if I don’t pump one or two days in a row. If you want to start this early just don’t go overboard. I usually pump in the morning. I would sometimes just pump one breast while baby fed on the other so I wouldn’t have to worry about pumping myself dry and baby getting hungry. That or just collect letdown with a haaka which can go a long way towards building a stash if you use it regularly.

Pumping is not recommended before 6-8 weeks otherwise you run the risk of mastitis and engorgement.
