Potty training!?

Question

Anyone have any tips or tricks?? Potty training a 19month old. Currently I’m taking him every 15mins to the potty he usually pees and loves to try and use the potty but he doesn’t tell me when he has to go and if he goes without a diaper he thinks is hilarious to purposely pee on the floor. He will even stop and push until he pees just to do it on the floor. I also have a 6week old so anything to make my life easier would be great!!! Thanks on advanced mommas

Its incredibly likely hes not ready. Especially with having a newborn- toddlers typically regress in potty training when there is another baby.

I have absolutely no idea why you're taking him every 15 minutes, but that's exactly why he's not potty trained yet. He's not telling you when he has to go because he has no idea when that is. He's just expecting that you're going to be randomly taking him every 15 minutes to try so when you don't, he just goes in his diaper like he normally would. Stop this habit. I'd drop the potty training for a few weeks to reset and then do it correctly the second time around. You should be taking him as he's peeing or right when you notice he's about to have an accident. Scoop him up and take him right to the bathroom. This teaches him to make the association between the feeling of having to pee and the act of actually going into the bathroom to go. He's lacking this association right now. Hence why he's not telling you or going on his own. You also need to trash the diapers too. If you want him to be a big boy then you shouldn't be treating him like a baby and putting him in diapers. That also makes it confusing for him. And age has nothing to do with it so don't worry about the other comments saying he's too young. We potty trained our daughter at 19/20 months in just 3 days with no issues. You're simply just not using a logical method. You're confusing him. Look up 3-day potty training boot camp and take it seriously. Otherwise, he's not going to get it any time soon.

If you’re going to potty train this young. Which I did, look up elimination communication and try to integrate some of those practices in with typical toddler potty training. It will also take a lot longer than the typical potty training.

Can I ask how you got your son interested in the potty? My son is 19 months and has zero interest in sitting on the potty.
