Should there be a transplant limit?

Should people with reoccurring organ failure such as those with PKD (polycystic kidney disease) be limited to the number of transplants they recieve?

Technically there is already a rule like this in place. Its just dependent upon how the patient takes care of themself. For instance, if you keep getting a new liver, but continue to drink alcohol and ruin the perfectly good liver or don’t take the meds you’re supposed to be taking, then you won’t qualify for another new one.

Depending if they use drugs or not if they dont hell no if they use drugs not prescribed by doctors then hell ya they dont desever to ruin perfectly health parts for your habit when i fucking little kid need one really bad

No, that’s fucked up. People don’t always control the fact they need transplants. It’s not like they chose that life. What’s next, limiting the amount of surgeries someone has to correct heart murmurs?

If it’s something out of someone’s control due to health, no. If it’s because of bad life style choices such as alcohol/drug abuse, not taking care of yourself or poor eating choices, then yes. Why should someone that is making the choice to destroy their body take precedence over someone that didn’t ask for the way their body failed them.

If an organ is available and is a match for that person then why shouldn't they get it? Even if it only prolongs their life by a year or two.

No. One of my sons was born with one kidney, that is something he cannot control a rule like that could put his life at risk if he god forbid ever he a problem with the existing kidney.

Well there’s already a lot of considering with who is eligible for a transplant. But no there shouldn’t be a limit, if they’re eligible to get one they should get it.
