Buy or rent?? Please read.
We have the opportunity to buy the trailer we're in. It will take us a year to buy it. But, its unmovable so we'd have to sell it back to the park owner or somebody else if we wanted to move, he doesn't allow you to rent them out while the trailer is on the property. His rule🤷♀️ it's in the lease. It's a trailer park, what can ya do.
Anyway, we just got offered to rent what is as close to a dream home we're gonna find around here. He made it clear he will never sell because it's farm land and he is leaving all 3 of his properties/farms to his kids when he dies. There are cows in the field up front, like spitting distance from the porch, and sheep in the back a little closer to the back porch, then more cows behind the sheep.. Its 3 bedroom and has a full bath, which this trailer does not. I'm not gonna go into much detail except it's just absolutely perfect.
The only issue is, we could own this trailer in a year and be paying $175 after it's paid off. Where as the house, we would always be paying rent but he will work my husband around the farm when he's not working his regular job to knock off rent and there are things like feed and water the animals that I can do if they aren't able to come to the farm..
What would you do?
Would you buy the trailer to be able to save $300/month towards a better house and other necessary things. Or would you rent a house paying full 600+/month making the saving journey longer.
*Rude comments about living in a trailer are unnecessary. They will be ignored. Trailers are just about the only places where I'm from that's big dog friendly and has rent below $600.*
