I dropped my daughter's binky on the ground. My mom told me to suck on it first so I get the germs and she doesn't.  I told her that makes no sense because I'd just be adding bacteria from on my mouth on it now. She looked at me like I was insane and said again that id be "sucking off the germs" ... So who's right? Lol

Honestly, a little germs won’t hurt. It will actually build up their immunity to germs. Not saying to roll it in shit,  but you get my point.

Unless you have antibacterial saliva, you’re not getting rid of the germs by putting it in your mouth, so you’re right. 
I would either clean it properly, use a backup pacifier, or go without one until you can do either of those depending on where it was dropped.

I do it all the time. I breastfeed, my kids immune system is based on my immune system. My daughter is nearly 4 and never had anything more than a mild cold

We don’t even wipe it off if it’s not visibly dirty. Honestly I’ve walked into daycare before and my son has someone else’s pacifier in his mouth. I don’t think sucking on it helps anything, but I also wouldn’t worry too much about the germs from the floor 🤷🏻‍♀️

you know how licking a wound helps it scab a lil faster? in a pinch I've sucked my nieces soothers quickly if they've fallen. should be all good! and I'm a little bit OCD with germs and cleaning. p.s. tooth decay is definitely not contagious LOL ❤️

I find them both disgusting.  If not give it back to her until I could clean it.   Never had this problem because we never used a pacifier
