“Fired” because I didn’t take BS

Hey guys. I need some advice. I’m a nursing student who currently works as a CNA at a nursing home. Well I’m being “reviewed” and I’m semi fired. I was told not to come back until a decision is made about this situation. So my patients family is visiting and they were rude from jump trying to tell me how to do things and what not. They yelled at me a couple of times and said some really low down things but I’m good at ignoring things. I got fed up though! The patients granddaughter got upset because the patients dentures were not soaked in the solution she had sent. We used the denture solution at the facility. But I didn’t know they were to be soaked in a certain solution because it was not communicated to me. Nor was the patients solution left out in his bathroom so I could know that. The patients grand daughter snapped off at me and I had enough. She said something that made me just give up. She said “if you don’t know how to do the easiest fucking job in the world then maybe you just need to quit” I said (in a calm tone) “LOOK MAM. I was not told about the solution. I do apologize but I’m not gonna sit here and be verbally abused or disrespected. If you’d like to speak with a manager I can help you with that. But as of now, I’m dismissing myself and they are going to have to assign you another CNA”....................... I did not revisit the patients room during the rest of my shift and I told the charge nurse on the unit about it. She apparently reported it to the manager and I’m thinking everything’s all good. Well it turns out that nobody was assigned to the patient and he had been in his room unsupervised the whole time. Why his family didn’t say anything is beyond me!! Now I’m being held accountable even after I reported it. And the patients family is looking to sue. Am I wrong in this situation? If I am please correct me and let me know what I should’ve done. I will take the blame if I’m wrong. But I honestly feel like I went about it the appropriate way 😪 I work hard as a CNA and actually care for my patients. it’s not a easy job. It was a slap in the face to be told that! I actually cried because it broke me to hear that.
