Postpartum bath

Does anybody know when you can take a bath after giving birth if you have stitches? I have 2 sets and one set has completely dissolved the other set is almost dissolved too. They said at the hospital they couldn’t remember the wait time and said probably 4 weeks but in the book they gave me it says you can take a bath 2 days after delivery and they highly recommend it if you have stitches. So I’m a little confused and wondered if anybody knows when it would be ok.
