Ready to drop a nap??
LO is 7.5 months. Her naps go:
NAP 1:
2hours after waking - 30-45minutes long
NAP 2:
2/2.5hours after waking - 1hr-1.5 hours long
NAP 3:
2-3 hours after waking - 30 min long (about 2 hours before bed)
This past week though, she’s been doing her two first naps the same. But her third nap she’s missed or had it late because she wasn’t falling asleep while nursing (she nurses to sleep) taking a lot longer to fall asleep for it.. she just doesn’t want to take that last nap. Which has resulted in 4-5 hours between last nap and bedtime, creating an overtired baby who takes two hours to get FULLY ASLEEP.
Does it seem like she’s ready to drop that third nap? I’m thinking stretching the time between first and second nap, going 4-5 hours between those naps instead. and then she’ll be good for bedtime?
But I’m scared she’ll be just as cranky and overtired during that stretch. She starts showing her sleepy cues around 1.5 hours & come the 2 hour mark I know she’s READY for a nap. Except that last nap, she has tired signs like usual, but she just doesn’t seem interested and today she played and got really overtired and hyper around 5-6pm which is earlier bedtime.
She usually goes to bed 7:30-8. Sometimes earlier if she missed that last nap. So 6:30-7 instead. But then I can’t set her down until almost 9 anyways because she is overtired!
When she goes to bed on time or too late she wakes at the same time every morning. But if she goes to bed earlier she wakes earlier. Sleeps 10-12 hours.
