No ultrasound until 20 weeks?

Hi had an early ultrasound at 7.5 weeks. Today at my 10.5 week appt my dr told me I won’t be having a 12 week ultrasound. Nothing until my 20 week scan. I have a history of miscarriage (3) and spotting with this pregnancy so I was surprised that they won’t do another ultrasound. Anyone else not getting a 12 week scan?

I don't mean to be harsh... As I've has 2 mc in the past... But doing an ultrasound will not prevent you from having a mc and if your going to have one there's nothing they can do to prevent it.... My OB last saw me at 11+5 I go back to midwife at 17+5 and don't have an ultrasound until my anatomy scan at 20 weeks...if you need a piece of mind I suggest going privet party that's what I have done. 😁

I had one at 8 weeks and my next won’t be until 20 weeks either.  It’s a long wait, but hearing the heartbeat on the Doppler helps me a lot.

I’m not getting a 12 weeks scan. I seen my OB at almost 16 weeks and I assume my next scan will be 18-23 for gender scan.

Yup pretty normal. The only reason I’ve had two already was from bleeding and them wanting to see if they could do the screening for genetic disorders since I know nothing about the fathers history, it was too early so I have another in about a week but other than that, if I’d not done the genetic screening ultrasound it would have been 20 weeks for the next one. That’s how it was with my daughter.

its normal if you’re getting NIPT done. The 12 week scan basically is looking for the same stuff the NIPT picks up. 
With my daughter we did a scan around 9 weeks for dating, NIPT and then the anatomy scan around 20 weeks. 
This one we are doing an NT scan at 11 weeks before deciding what kind of prenatal testing to do. Our last baby was sick and we didn’t find out until we’d already done the NIPT drawing, then we ended up doing a CVS two days later and it was all totally redundant. This time we’re not drawing NIPT until we’ve confirmed baby looks ok on the NT scan and then we’ll move forward with testing.

Yeah you can pay extra for scan at 16 weeks. I wanna do it just to check on baby. I was quoted it would be like $65 out of pocket to go again.

Most insurances won’t cover more than two ultrasounds. You could always find private ultrasound clinics who will do US’s without a referral but they’re completely out of pocket.

I got an ultrasound at 10 weeks not having one until 14 weeks+3days.
Free ones i got at a free clinic was at 4 weeks,8weeks& 9 weeks

That’s been normal in my experience. My first appointment was at 9 weeks and included an ultrasound; my next appointment is at 15 weeks and I’m assuming it won’t include an ultrasound and my next will be around 20 weeks. In my first pregnancy, the 20 week ultrasound would have been my only one the whole pregnancy if they hadn’t grabbed a quick one when they couldn’t find the heartbeat yet with the Doppler at 10 weeks, and in my  second pregnancy the only reason I had an early ultrasound was because I conceived with an IUD.
