Preeclampsia after labor???

I was admitted to the hospital last night I am 4 days pp and blood pressure was 198-129 so they took me to the icu. Has anyone else had preeclampsia or problems with blood pressure after birth? What was it? And what did they do for it?

Ive not experienced it myself but I’ve cared for both eclampsia and preeclampsia patients postpartum. You should be on a magnesium drip and having your blood pressure checked st least hourly. You will likely be given short acting medications to help bring your blood pressure back down. You may have bloodwork done every six hours or possibly even more while in icu. You will likely go home on blood pressure medication and be required to check your bp at home. Don’t worry this is only temporary. 
If you are planning to breastfeed please make sure your nurses know so they can support you either breastfeeding In hospital or pumping and storing or pumping and dumping depending what medications you are on.

Yes. I had it with my 3rd. 10days pp. I only went in bc my Apple Watch was sending me warnings that my heart rate was dropping below 35bpm. Went in my bp was 181/120. Got a bp med to help lower it. Once my bp was under 140 and stayed I was put on magnesium for 24hr. And then had to stay another 24hr after that to make sure it didn’t return. So scary! Wouldn’t wish it upon my worse enemy.

I had high blood pressure but not preeclampsia from abut 25 wks on. It always went down on its own so I didn’t need medicine. As soon as I gave birth it went down but went back up a few hrs later. The dr said it should go down in the coming weeks after giving birth. Just kept an eye on it didn’t need medicine. It just kept going up and down. By about 4-5 wks pp it was back to normal.

I had postpartum preeclampsia. Most people don’t realize it’s a thing, but it is. I was on a 24 hour magnesium drip. Then I was taking blood pressure pills for several weeks.
