How many chances do you give your guy until you should just stop?

I have a huge problem with sticking to what i tell myself "this will be the last time i swear".

What are your guys opinion on situations like these. How or what will help me out with sticking to what i think is right?

And by situation, for example he'll promise to start doing something and never does. Just continuing his same old ways
