Am I ridiculous?

My husbands family has this tradition that the first born son has dads first name has his middle name. Well my husband already has a son and he has my husbands name as his middle. Well our little boy is due in June and we have yet to pick out a first or middle name and it makes me sad that my baby won’t have my husbands first name since my stepson already does. Am I ridiculous for being sad about it? This is my first baby and my husbands second.

Nah you can be sad about that. 
There’s no reason your baby couldn’t also have his name as a middle name 🤷🏻‍♀️ or maybe his middle name as a middle name.

Even though it is your first, it is your husband’s second so his first born son is following that tradition. If you feel that sad about it though, Maybe you could give him Dad’s name as his middle? 🤷‍♀️

You can be sad about it, but you knew already. That his first son had his name, but I would consider putting dad's name as the middle name or dad's middle name as the first name

Ask your husband if you can name the baby the same thing,I have cousins who have my grandpa and their dads name as their middle names. Both are my uncles kids but different moms the guys don’t care that they share the name .

Why not make his middle name the same as dads? My sister in law has multiple kids with the same middle name

My family has a similar tradition, where the baby girls middle name is the mothers first name. I feel that my name is too long for a middle name, especially for the first name we picked out so we decided to use my mothers first name (and my middle) as our babys middle name as well. Maybe you guys could do something like that and either use dads middle name or maybe his dads name instead?
