Going On The Pill

I was wondering if I have a irregular period if going on birth control would help regulate it ? Has it worked for any of you by going on the pill does it help to regulate your period ? I barely get it. I get it once every six months or so. I’m 16 btw. I’m scared to go on it. Everyone around me is saying different stories or like bad things that could happen like not being able to have kids in the future and stuff. I just wanna know opinions or if it’s right for me to go on it. Please help would mean a lot thank you !
