Is it okay to ask for more hours?

I work at a fast food restaurant and have been working here since April 22, I want more hours. I’m usually working 20-24 hours and want more, do you think its okay for me to ask for more hours? 
I was thinking maybe they didn’t give me that many because I just started but I’ve been here for 2 weeks (a little over that) and want more hours. It doesn’t hurt to ask, so should I/can I ask for more hours?

It doesnt hurt to ask. You can also just casually say, "If you need someone to pick up more hours I'm available".

You're still on a probationary period. They don't want to give you more hours in fear of you leaving/having to be terminated. It always, always looks good to ask for more hours.

U. Can ask but most places hire a lot of part time people so they don’t have to give u the benefits of a full time employee. They probably won’t give u more than 30 -32 hours to keep u at part time.
