When to tell employers

I’m 18 in high school and found out I’m pregnant the 6th, I’m a dish washer and main thing I do is lift heavy bins full of plates. Hey also ask me to lift huge buckets ( I’m going to say no next time they ask) and also issue with using bleach and cleaners . When should I tell them, I’m not ready for people to know is there anything legal that can protect me from them telling other people

You should be fine lifting while pregnant. They say that if you do it before you’re pregnant, to keep doing it while pregnant. I’m a CNA, so I lift over 100lb people everyday, and just because I’m pregnant, I’m not stopping 😂. Also, bleach is fine during pregnancy!

If you did it before and have no doctor restrictions, you keep doing what you did pre pregnancy

I work at Amazon and I loaded trucks while pregnant you can still lift just do it properly with your legs. Pregnancy is not a disability.

regardless of your age or being pregnant, they can let you go for not being able to DO your job. you can have the limitations but that means you’d have to let them know, even on the low. no one can fire you for being pregnant but if it gets to the point where you basically aren’t doing anything at work they can let you go. just letting you know

I was lifing heavy items before I became pregnant. I told my coworkers my news and they instantly told me I was no longer allowed to lift anything over 5lbs. 
I'm 32 weeks now and have terrible back pain and lifing is difficult for me now. 
Im still perfectly capable of doing everything else in my job. 
I guess it depends on how willing your work is to work with you. Management in my job is really laid back and we are all pretty close. My job is like a second family to me.

You're pregnant, not disabled. You should still be able to lift bins and inhale bleach. If you have doctor orders, they can offer you a reasonable accommodation but only within the employer's limit. As someone said, they can legally let you go if you are not able to do your job.

I personally would feel uncomfortable doing heavy lifting while pregnant.
I would ask for another position or start looking for another job.
