Excessive bleeding after stopping birth control?

I decided that I needed to take a break from taking birth control as the side effects are an inconvenience ngl. I didn’t wait until the end of the pack I just stopped roughly half way through. My actual period is due in about 2 weeks yet I’ve suddenly started heavily bleeding after coming off the pill. I tried to google it but I haven’t seen a single article saying that you should bleed heavily after stopping ? Is this okay ? It’s not really period blood it’s a bit different (which they said withdrawal blood would be) but why am i bleeding so heavily?
