Hpv vaccine: yes or no? Hpv vaccine offered to 11 year old female?!!

It was declined... but I was shocked its even being offered at such a young age. So for those of u who have gotten the hpv vaccine, have u gotten any side effects or health issues because of it?

You should definitely give the vaccine to your 11 year old. I have HPV and have to go in once I year to make sure the cells aren’t cancerous. It’s a scary thing to get. Even if the child isn’t sexually active , things do happen. Dont not get it because child shouldn’t be thinking of sex. It’s about protecting the child’s life. I wish I was given the shot, I wouldn’t have to deal with this for the rest of my life... come on

I would have said yes. Kids these days have sex so young and there's always the chance of being raped. A vaccine is offered so can PROTECT your children.

Vaccine injury and severe side effects are rare. 
The HPV vaccine protects against the nastiest strains of HPV that cause cancer and warts. It is incredibly important for boys and girls to be vaccinated BEFORE they become sexually active. That is how it is most effective. That’s why it was being suggested. 
It wasn’t available until I was 23 and I still got it. I wish it had been available when my sister and I were in our early teens. It might’ve saved her from some really comfortable procedures following an HPV/abnormal cell diagnosis and all the stress that goes along with it.

My mom chose for me to have it and I’m so glad she did. When you look at statistics, nearly 80% of the population will contract a form of HPV in their lifetime, some of them being cancerous forms. New studies are finding that it can even be transmitted with the use of a condom. When I was a teenager, I was not interested in sex and had planned to explore that avenue when I was more mature. Unfortunately, I was raped at 15 which no one ever thinks may happen to them or their loved ones. I’m so glad I had that protection in place as I went through 18 months of periodic testing to make sure I had not contracted an STI, hepatitis, or HIV. Yes, it’s a young age to start thinking about these things, but in the end, it only further protects our children.

Yes. They offer it at that age for a reason. Why would you wait? What benefit comes from waiting? I can’t think of any. Better get it now and think of it as a preventative measure.

My mom refused to let me get it for a while because I was “13 and shouldn’t even be thinking about sex.”
Then my doctor said she might grow up to be the perfect young woman but she might end up marrying a man who wasn’t always. Would you want her to get it that way? It’s best to have her vaccinated for any reason. 
So I ended up getting that vaccine.

Oh god, I WISH I hadve been given it at 11 years old. You can develop HPV without having sex. The sooner a person (yes both male and females should get it) receives it, the better! I developed HPV when I was 22. I am 29 and am still dealing with it. It went away once, but came back. Luckily I do not have the cancer strain.

You should definitely get it for your daughter. The only side effect I had was a sore arm. That is definitely better than all the complications HPV can give.

While we all like to think our kids would tell us they are having sex or “we would know”.... you won’t know. I have seen kids as young as 10 having sex and parents had no idea! 
Get them vaccinated while you can and when you can. Give things time to build up an immunity and protect them. One day your baby comes to you bc something is “wrong” and you didn’t protect them bc you “knew there was no way they are having sex bc they are so young...”
Just do it.
