How long to keep newborn/baby sitting up?

After feeding. I know holding a baby for a long time can spoil them but the sooner I lay my newborn down after feeding, the more he spit up.

Youre not going to spoil a baby by holding them too long. Its a baby, they NEED to be held, it's how they learn and bond. You cant spoil a baby, especially not by giving them what they need. Get that out your head. 
Hold baby upright for 20-30 minutes and be sure to try to burp baby as well. Constant spitting up can also be a sign of overfeeding, reflux, or another problem. Make sure to bring it up to the pediatrician.

Spoil... what are you spoiling lol I hold my boy every chance I get and he’s almost 10 months and he’s very independent still but does love his mommy 😊 but if your worried about acid reflux I think the recommendation is at least 30 minutes to let everything settle
